Elder Kelly D. Coleman Tiebout
a native Chicagoan, has been blessed with the gift of music to enhance her call to ministry. Ordained an elder in the AME church in 1998, Kelly served as an associate minister in three Illinois congregations prior to serving at her home church, Third Baptist Church of Chicago.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Illinois, graduating with honors. She has nearly completed her Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. In addition to working with the Praise and Worship Team, Youth Choir and other choirs at Third Baptist, Kelly is the Gospel Choir director at First United Methodist Church in downtown Chicago, and at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston.
One of the highlights of her educational career was the opportunity to participate in a mission study trip to Senegal, West Africa. Kelly is often requested to consult with organizations desiring to implement new choirs and praise and worship ministries.
Kelly is a featured speaker for workshops, revivals and conferences for youth, women, singles and marriage ministries.
Kelly works as a Conservation Education Representative and has worked for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources since 1989. She is married to her “treasure,” Minister Terrence Tiebout, and has one daughter, Charlotte. In her limited leisure time, Kelly enjoys movies, gardening and the occasional videogame. Kelly is honored to be used for God’s service.
